Melbourne // Tasmania

We arrived in Melbourne on Thursday and took a walk around the city and some shops. Saw the usual sights including the old train station, queen vic markets and federation square before heading back to the room.

It was a lovely sunny day and we enjoyed a drink and some dinner in a lovely Italian restaurant for dinner. The best carbonara I’ve tasted in a very long time!

On Friday (my birthday!) we checked out of the hotel and headed out to breakfast. We dined at the Grain Store and I ordered the Poached eggs with wild mushrooms which was amazing. I’ll definitely have to try and recreate this one at home.

After that we headed towards the eastern suburbs to have a look at a few shops that I’ve also wanted to visit, having followed them on instagram for some time. They included Norsu Interiors which had the art lab walls below and Fenton and Fenton which had this really bright outdoor area and the cushion Clint bought me as a present 😀

We then had some lunch in Richmond and took a drive around. It would’ve been nice to wander the streets a bit but typical Melbourne weather had it pouring down.

That night we disembarked Melbourne port on the Spirit of Tasmania headed for Devonport. A 12 hour overnight cruise across the bass straight. It was a little rough once it got out of the harbour but we managed a few hours sleep in the cabin before the 4:45 wake up announcement 😴

We were then off the boat and heading South from Devonport down to Hobart.

After a stop in at Salamanca Markets for some lunch we drove past a prospective rental and then got a room for the night to do a heap of research. Now is the time to get serious and find and house and job.
